This week’s article is borrowed from Brandy of Total Practice Resources. She is known to increase a doctor’s practice, profitability and their peace of mind, by teaching them the proper way to do every procedure in their office. For example, she has been known to double their nutritional income by teaching them to have the products and the knowledge on hand, which helps specific conditions and/or promotes wellness. She is a viable part of our seminars and doctors practices.
Please review this short list of what will allow your journey to create better health, wealth and happiness as you end 2010 and prepare for 2011. "A good plan is like a road map: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there." - H. Stanley Judd Plan Ahead for a Successful 2011 So, together, let's begin to work with our teams, build our visions and create a plan for a profitable and productive 2011. To get started, I have provided below, your 'to do' list for 2011. Now is the time to begin utilizing your team meetings to orchestrate with your staff your "road map" for 2011. Goals: What does 2011 look like for you? What goals and objectives do you have that you would like your team to work toward? Reflect on current statistics to help determine what your goals might be or a starting point to begin to work toward them. These things should be in writing! State Guidelines: Follow up with your state to see if there are any important changes coming of which you should be aware. Good things to ask about are prepayment guidelines and Time-of-Service guidelines. Budget: To achieve or retain a balance with your income and expenses, now is the time to start working on your monthly/annual budget for 2011. If you're unsure where to start with this, stay tuned to a future issue of the Spotlight as we will cover this in detail. Marketing: Every successful business should be employing 3-5 avenues of marketing. What are yours? Design your monthly marketing agenda for the year and evaluate your current marketing strategies to insure they are as fruitful as you are expecting! If not, determine what changes should be made and plan for these! Review Coding: Begin to watch for coding and billing changes that will take effect January 1, 2011. You should know of these things in advance so as to be fully educated and prepared for the changes. It is also a good idea to spend time to review all code definitions for codes you are currently using, just to be confident that they are all being used properly and your documentation is sufficient. Fees: The beginning of the year is a great time to update fees and in some cases, it is required. If these will be changes you are making, now is the time to discuss with your team what changes may be necessary. You will also want to reference a current year zip code fee schedule analysis to do this most accurately. See details of this in the section below. Also, Medicare will soon be releasing the preliminary fee schedule for 2011. Don't jump the gun and make these changes immediately, wait till January 1 to make sure that changes have gone into effect, but it's crucial that you know what to expect! Update your reference guides: Now is the time to order your 2011 ChiroCode Deskbook reference for coding, billing and documentation as well as your 2011 zip code fee schedule analysis. Specific details and ordering information are listed below. Now there's nothing to hold you back, so reflect on the itemized list above and begin your 2011 planning!
