The Twins First Adjustment

On the Brimhall Protocol Certification Test, one of the questions is, “When can a baby receive their first adjustment”? The answer is, after they are born. I have adjusted each of my children as immediately as possible after delivery. I have treated many babies that were diagnosed as failure to thrive syndrome that were literally dying. I have treated babies with seizures, colic, constipation and many other diagnosed named and blamed dis-eases. They were treated with adjustments, craniosacral, visceral and nutrient support.

Sometimes Chiropractors are criticized for treating babies. They are asked how a little baby could have subluxations? One doctor was brought before their chiropractic board and told they should never adjust an infant without checking with the pediatrician. Some members on that board did not adjust infants at all.

I probably should not use cuss words on these articles but several come to mind. We had a wonderful experience with our OB and with the hospital where the twins were born January 19, 2011. Most of my children before were born in birthing centers and several with midwives. With twins, we took the utmost precautions and went to the hospital. Twins run in Brandy’s family and her cousin gave birth to twin boys just three months earlier. The cousin had complications with her pregnancy and the twins had complications after birth and had to spend quite a while in the hospital.

The one glitch we had is our little girl was breach and would not get out of the way where the little boy was head down and ready to go. We had to make the decision for a C Section at 37 weeks. Teagan Lynn Brimhall was born 8:00 PM and Trig John Brimhall was born at 8:02. I was there and watched the entire procedure. To say this is a trauma is an understatement. It was necessary and the skill of the team was truly a blessing.

Excess Abdominal Fat Can Be More Serious Than You Think The only complication that developed over the next few days was that Teagan was not holding her temperature high enough and Trig had a little high bilirubin. We were to be released Saturday morning, only three days later, but the nurse we had at the time said we could not go unless Teagan’s temperature stayed constant. It was one degree lower than they recommend by then. Here is the interesting part. The pediatrician saw them each day in the hospital, had all of their records and examined them each day. He had been there that morning and spent only five minutes per exam. He said we were ready to go home. Now they are telling us, we can not go home unless they allow it. I told them we are out of here. The nurse said the pediatrician had to release us and she had a call into him to explain the temperature was too low. I told her “I do not care what the pediatrician says, we are going home today.” She and another nurse gasp for air!

I explained to them I had been trained by Robert Fulford, DO, who treated hundreds of infants and children who had not responded to medical care and he had been able to help with percussion and craniosacral care. Andrew Weil MD, University of Tucson, has written about this treatment and results in some of his books. This totally went over their heads…

We went home Saturday afternoon and gave them their first adjustment. Teagan’s temperature stabilized and Trig’s bilirubin became under control.

Excess Abdominal Fat Can Be More Serious Than You ThinkWe had run a complete blood profile on Brandy and put her on Nutri-West Pre/Post Vitamins and Pre/Post Minerals, Complete Omega-3 Essentials, Total Enzymes, Total Probiotics, Homocysteine Redux, Total Multimune, Vitamin D 400, B Complex, Amino All and Iodine Rescue with Total Thyroid.

The first doctor we saw told her to not take anything but a pre natal and wanted to give her a flu shot. This doctor was overweight by 80 lbs and had had twins previously that had to stay in the hospital for a month and the bill was $100, 000. We changed doctors.

The babies are nursing and getting adjusted, mainly with craniosacral work, since they did not come through the birth canal. They are on Total Probiotics and Total Enzymes and what mother’s milk is providing, since Brandy is still on the comprehensive nutrition support. We have to use an organic milk formula to supplement these two ravenous eaters. They want a sandwich every three to three and one half hours and it is not negotiable.

They bring great joy to our hearts.
