YOU control 90% and the world only 10% of how your day and life will go. I just read an article from Steven Covey I would like to condense for you. It will change your life for the better, instantly, if you will apply its message. We just completed Certification 2010. I would like somehow, to pass onto you the feeling of love and energy that was generated there. It was truly a healing experience as well as a learning transformation. This little article may set the stage for that accomplishment and create more peace in your life.

Scenario # 1: To relate this principle, place yourself at the kitchen table with your family for breakfast. Your daughter spills a glass of milk on your shirt. You blow a gasket, yell at her and make her cry. You carry on until she can’t eat, she misses her bus, your wife is mad at you, leaves for work and now you have to go up stairs and put on a clean shirt and take your daughter to school.

You are mad, in a hurry and speed in a school zone and get a ticket. Your daughter won’t say a word to you and leaves the car still crying. You now realize you have forgotten your brief case, have to go back home and miss a very important meeting that costs you money and your reputation.

When you get home that evening, your wife is still mad at you, your daughter’s confidence is shattered and you feel horrible. You have taken a 10% incident and turned your 90% reaction into a lose-lose situation and have created a boomerang effect of negativity that can last a lifetime.

Scenario # 2: You started out your day with DSF so you do not stress out with life’s activities. You took your Total Liver Detox, as a toxic liver brings out anger. Of course you had your Total Enzymes for great digestion and your Total Probiotics, since your gut is your second brain and you want it at its best.

Now, the milk gets spilled on your shirt and you laugh and comment, “That woke me up”. You say to your daughter, don’t worry sweetheart, just be a little more careful next time. You give her a hug, wink at your wife and say I guess we will have to put the drinks a little closer to the center of the table. You go upstairs and change your shirt, remember your briefcase, get to work on time and close the deal because you created a win-win in the universe. You have created love and harmony in your world, and the world of those around you.

The Doctor asked for help on a patient with Tourette’s. Here is the plea:

I am hoping to get suggestions for the use of cold laser and nutrition for a 7 year old with tics (possible Tourette's syndrome, eye blinking, neck twisting, and throat clearing for at least 6 months.) Thank you.

Tourette syndrome (also called Tourette's syndrome, Tourette's disorder, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome, GTS or, more commonly, simply Tourette's or TS) is thought to be an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood. It is often characterized by the presence of multiple physical (motor) tics and for a complete diagnosis of this condition the patient has at least one vocal (phonic) tic. These tics characteristically get better and worse on their own accord to some degree. Tourette's is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders, which includes transient and chronic tics.

Since we treat people that have conditions and not conditions that have people, the exact diagnosis in not critical for us to apply natural therapy to allow the best possible function. I am a DC and in this case that means I am a Doctor of Cause. I have always found subluxations in the cervical spine in these types of cases. I correct them manually or with the Adjustor to great success. Of course there could be subluxation complexes anywhere in the spine or extremities that need correction.

I have almost always seen cranial or craniosacral lesions, as well as TMJ involvement. I have had great success in correcting these with manual and percussion techniques to free the fascia. It is important to clear any scar tissues here as well. Remember the umbilical area is the first scar and percussion and laser of this area is sometimes necessary. The TMJ responds to the Percussion treatment we teach and is involved in well over have of the cases I have seen.

I also use the eyelights and correct any brain weakness that appears when up regulated to show positive by use of the eyelight stimulation to the non dominant side of the brain. Most commonly there is a cerebellum side that needs to be lasered that manifests after only two or three flashes of the eyelights. It is usually opposite the non-dominate side of the brain but must be tested for to be sure. Usually the opposite side cerebrum will then need lasering. Often the cranial midline will then test to need a laser balancing to bring the corpus collusom to optimal function. This will clear any right or left brain imbalance.

I apologize I am not covering each of these techniques in detail for a new reader. They are all taught in the Nutri-West/Brimhall Seminars and are in the Seminar Manual. We have them in great detail on the training DVD’s that can be acquired through our office at 866-338-0996.

It is important to laser the appropriate myotomes and cranial nerves that test positive on challenge. The exact details again are taught in the seminars, in the manual and training DVD’s. The frequencies for the Erchonia laser, either red or red/violet can be 4, 16, 33, 60 or other useful settings.

Nutritionally I would use Total Brain, Total Joint Support and Total Inflamm. I would be very careful to test for Total Enzymes and Total Probiotics. I have had some symptomatic expression from tics and even seizures respond to balancing the gut and digestion. Remember over 60% of our Immune System is in the gut. So this means you also need to test for hidden infections and give proper nutrition support to the immune system with Total Yeast, Total Para, Total Multimune or Virx etc.

Of course food allergies (A/SERT), emotional components, electromagnetic pollution and toxins can play a part as well.

The doctor’s question is, “I have been asked to see an elderly woman with epilepsy and depression.  Any reason she can't have footbaths??  Anything special I should be aware of with detoxifying, etc??

These two conditions are separate and distinct.  They can appear together but most often are separate.  I am going to say it again, that we treat people that have conditions but not conditions that have people.  I am not going to discuss here the medical diagnosis or approach.  I am going to discuss what we as wellness practitioners, do to help the person to be as well as possible, while being treated for these named and blamed conditions by their medical physician.  The treatment I describe should help the patient with either or both conditions by balancing with the 6 Steps.

Dr. Jim Parker said to accept no credit and take no blame.  We as chiropractors and other practitioners that believe Innate Intelligence or the energy within heals, need to let the body take the credit for its miracles and not get our egos in the way.

Dr. Brett and I have treated hundreds of patients with a diagnosis of some type of seizure activity and many with depression.  Our results have been listed as miracles by many.  We evaluate and adjust the spine very precisely.   Dr. Goodhart said over and over that structure rules function.  We have found this to be very true.  We evaluate and treat the craniosacral system with manual and Percussor treatment.  I can not honestly remember any patient with seizures that did not have multiple cranial lesions from a CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) or craniosacral viewpoint.

There could be a subluxation or craniosacral lesion anywhere in the body from the sphenoid bone to the bones or fascia of the foot.  We evaluate and clear at a vertebrae level as well as the fascia with the percussor and manual adjusting/balancing.

We would evaluate organ movement and use visceral manipulation, as many cases we have seen had restricted motion.  Percussion of the rib cage from the right allows proper motion of the liver, the heaviest organ in the body.  This also frees lung and diaphragm movement.  Remember 80% of toxins are eliminated daily through the breath.  Sometime shock release is necessary to complete this process.  Dropped kidneys should be tested for and lifted if positive.

We have used foot baths to great advantage and the new iontophoresis has been especially helpful in tandem to increase the nutrition uptake.  The regular foot bath helps to balance energy and toxic elimination while the iontophoresis is used for rapidly increasing the nutritional stores.

The normal recommendation is two foot baths per week if the patient is over 40 and up to 3 per week if the patient is under 40.  If the doctor felt the foot baths might be lowering the medication the medical physician had the patient on, the physician should be contacted.  I have had many patients that contacted their physician because the medication became to strong after treatment also.  As a DC I can not take a patient off mediation any more than I can put them on.  So it is wonderful to establish a working relationship with physicians of different disciplines to serve the patient to the utmost.

I would of course do a Total Scan to see what nutrition tested best.  I would expect Total Enzymes and Total Probiotics, as many seizures and depression I have seen had a digestive component.  Remember the digestive system is the second brain.  Also 60 % of the immune system is in the gut and you should test for Total Multimune, Yeast, Para, and Virx etc.

Test for Total Brain, Total Mitochondria and Total 5-HTP, which can be given orally at levels of one three times per day as average dosages.  Remember do not give 5-HTP to patients on SSRI drugs.

A/SERT or allergy and sensitivity testing and treatment may be necessary to help the patient.  Food allergies and other reactions are common in these types of patients.  Test for heavy metals as well and consider Total Chelate as part of the detoxification process.
